Major Mackenzie Drive West Bus Terminal – Vaughan, ON
The Major Mackenzie Drive West Bus Terminal is located at Major Mackenzie Drive West and Amusement Drive, just west of Jane Street, in the City of Vaughan. The terminal is within walking distance of Canada’s Wonderland and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital. The terminal consists of 12 bus bays (platforms) located on two separate sites, on the east and west sides of Amusement Drive.
The terminal is designed to be accessible from every direction to pedestrians, cyclists, and transit customers. Travellers can also be dropped off at the passenger pick-up and drop-off area. The terminal building is located on the east side and will be fully accessible. The building contains climate-controlled and naturally ventilated passenger waiting areas, seating, washrooms, free public Wi-Fi, and transit information displays. The terminal’s exterior has landscaped areas, seating, and a passenger pick-up/drop-off area. There will also be a pedestrian connection from the terminal to the Hospital.
Amico Infrastructures, as the General Contractor of the project, performed construction of the building and site development, including grading and installation of all services (storm, sanitary, water), patterned/colored concrete sidewalks installation, concrete road construction, retaining walls, landscape walls, an extension of the previous underpass to accommodate for the pedestrian underpass. Amico was responsible for traffic control and coordinating with other contractors.
Amico Design Build constructed the bus terminal, and Amico Infrastructures completed the heavy civil/site development work. Throughout the project, Amico achieved the project’s general requirements, including Project coordination; Mechanical and electrical coordination; Project meetings; Construction progress documentation; Submittal procedures; Quality requirements; Quality control; Facility operation; and Commissioning.
