Vertical Integration at Work: MTO Highway 418 and 401 Maintenance Patrol Yard

This fall our Design Build and Infrastructure team completed our MTO Highway 418 and 401 Maintenance Patrol Yard, demonstrating the work of our vertical integration. The collaboration of our Amico divisions helped us improve the timeline on critical milestones and our ability to coordinate work quickly, such as schedule changes.

This facility is strategically located between Highways 401 and 418 to provide easy access for snowplows to reach our highways to enhance safety during the winter months. The 655,000 square-foot site included three separate structures: plow canopy, office and maintenance garage and material storage building. To complete this project for the Ministry of Transportation, we collaborated with Diamond Schmit architects, EXP delivering civil and structural engineering, and MEP services.

The connectivity of our teams allowed us to mitigate coordination issues/scope gaps involving site and building works, ensuring project completion just in time for winter.
