Using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Amico’s Technical Services Department created 3D surfaces and linework of the finished grade of the Open Graded Drainage Layer (OGDL). These files were imported into the main 3D computer of the Vogele Paver.
While using Leica’s latest construction total stations and software, Amico placed over 8,000 tonnes of OGDL with 3D machine control. Eight total stations were manned by members of the Technical Services Team that allowed the Vogele Paver to place the OGDL within the required tolerance of 10mm. These total stations were strategically placed around the site to ensure unobstructed sightlines and continuous placement.
