Windsor International Airport – MRO Service Hangar
In 2011, the City of Windsor identified the need for a new service hangar at the facility in order to increase air traffic revenue, create more jobs and diversify the local economy. The service hangar is comprised of two components: the 94 000 SF hangar and the attached two storey office building including administrative offices and trade work areas of 48,000 SF. The office and trade work areas include: Avionics, AutoFlight systems, Radio systems, Structures, Composite, Sheet Metal, Welding, Line maintenance services, Mobile repair teams, AOG field support, NDT Services, Showers, change rooms and kitchen.
Scope of Services: Amico was responsible for overseeing the management of both the design and construction phases for the project. By combining design and construction quality, cost, schedule and safety into a single point of responsibility, Amico ensured that the project was completed within budget and on schedule. Amico was also responsible for overseeing the management of the construction process, including controlling the project schedule and budget, tendering and directing subcontractor work, ensuring quality control, document control, and implementing site safety.
Amico also self-performed construction of a new access road, vehicle parking lot, concrete/asphalt apron and a taxiway connection to Runway 12-30 as well as associated drainage modifications and site servicing.
The Hangar was a 143,000 SF facility that had as many as 100 site personnel from 16+ different trades on site daily throughout the project duration.
