The Region of Waterloo rapid transit system will connect the three major urban centres of Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo. Rapid transit, along with the Central Transit Corridor Community Building Strategy, will shape the community by encouraging re-urbanization in existing urban areas. Rapid transit will provide a sustainable transportation choice that supports the efficient use of land, protection of the countryside, reducing per trip greenhouse gas emissions, promote active transportation choices, and protect important agricultural and natural resources.

Amico’s role is the construction subcontractor to the GrandLinq consortium, consisting of AECON and Kiewit. Amico has been contracted to provide ‘wet services replacement’ work for various locations throughout the project, as specified below. Amico’s involvement grew to also include design development and implementation of safety standards utilizing CORTM principles that were then required of all subcontractors involved in the project.
